The Velveeta Room is a long-running 6th Street Austin comedy club & bar hosting local stand-up acts & open mic nights in an intimate setting. Comedy shows throughout the week.

For as long as it’s been called The Velveeta Room, comedians have lovingly referred to the club as The Velv. Mystery solved! The Velv has always been an intimate, laugh-filled room where local and touring comics can let their hair down on and off stage.

Its corner location, it’s also been a cozy respite from the rest of Dirty Sixth. Best of all, it’s a club run by and built for comics. Standards are high, and Austin’s reputation for funny is among the best from coast to coast.

Saw the Mean Boys live podcast there and I had a great time. Small club with a super cool atmosphere. Very intimate. Plus, I’m a fan of pretty much any place that would provide such a thoughtful arrangements of products in the bathroom (picture included).

Very good time and very well priced. We saw 3 comedians and a hilarious host. Drink specials were good . The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is bc the facility is dated. I know this adds to the kitsch, but I like updated WC and chairs.

Small but nice! Came here for a comedy show during the Out of Bounds festival and really liked it. You can’t buy tickets in advance. Also, on the site it says that it is cash only for tickets but I was able to pay with card at the door. Doesn’t get too crowded. Really cute ambiance, inexpensive drinks, and puts on a good show!
