The Koolerators
Texas Tornados bassist Speedy Sparks joins Grady Pinkerton in this side project and with a solid rhythm section, they’re offering an eclectic mix of “older” Texas Rock’n’Roll, R&B, and Oldies – Buddy Holly, Doug Sahm, Freddie King, and the LeRoi Brothers all were “godfathers” of that infectious groove.
It’s more than 30 years ago when I ran into Misser V. Washington (Speedy), playing bass for Samm Dogg and Rockin’ Leon better known as the Texas Mavericks touring through Europe on their then-current album “Who Are These Masked Men?” – well these disguised gentlemen, were besides Sparks, Doug Sahm and Alvin Crow. The mix fit then and still fits today!
