  1. I came here a couple years ago and got the Migas with queso and have dreamed about it since. I just came back in 2026 and the Migas were as good as I remember! The atmosphere is so cute – perfect for a little bachelorette group to get a meal.

  2. Tamale House East is a great local family-run gem in East Austin. The menu is strong, parking is easy and spacious, and it’s a convenient stop before or after exploring the area.

But one of its best features is something rarely captured in photos: the hidden garden full of greenery that makes the whole place feel like an escape from the city.

  3. Do not understand how this place was not packed on a Friday night but others had a literal hour wait. I believe the owner was the one who prepared and delivered our food but she was so sweet. The outdoor patio was quiet and had a lot of vibrant colors. The Tamale was so good with the sauce on top. The guacamole and salsa were both fresh. And both of our tacos were 10/10! Would definitely go back and recommend.

  4. Recently ate here while visiting my friend who lives in Austin. We got in about an hour before they closed and received good service. Your place your order through your phone by scanning the code on the table. Had the chicken tamale with mole plate. It was very good, mole tasted like mole and the tamale was not dry. Would go here again.

  5. Cute and cozy side room. The main dining room has a bar atmosphere. The interesting thing is now they only do phone orders and bring your food to the table. The food was good. Texas sized tamale plate was actually enough food for me with their complimentary chips. The chicken enchiladas were also enjoyed. The validate 2 hours of parking

  7. So I wanted to go to Kebabalicious and my friend whined about the possibility of sitting outside so we went on the hunt for a place to sit inside at. I remembered that this place was close, so away we went.

Plenty of parking (a rare commodity), and a big space inside.

I ordered the roasted chicken taco and the crispy beef deluxe with a drink and it was $10.00.

My friend got chips and salsa which she had to pay for, which is somewhat absurd in my opinion. The salsa was nothing exciting. I like something more picoso – this was just sort of blah.

The reason I am a fan is that both tacos were delicious. The chicken taco was nice, shredded, white meat with this super flavorful, a little spicy tomatillo salsa, and a big, thick slice of avocado. The deluxe beef was chock full of fresh veggies and a dollop of guacamole perched on top.

I would certainly come back here for lunch, and would love to see better salsa.

  8. SO. Breakfast tacos, totally an Austin thing ya? YEAH! I was always afraid to try them until I was like, “…well, if Anthony Bourdain says Austin is the originator and the home of the best breakfast tacos, then F— it” So happy I tried this place. It was on No Reservations and it’s fantastic.

Walk through a dusty parking lot, push that wooden door and enter a world of color, pretty smells, a freaking fountain with birdies, salsa bar and freshly made margaritas. Everything about this place is wonderful. The prices, the spunky lady at the register who by-the-way doesn’t judge you for having a prickly pear margarita at 11am with your breakfast taco and encourages the homemade salsa. Hell, she even ran outside to make sure the birds weren’t feasting before we did. I would frequent this place always if I lived in Austin… but for now, I will settle for every time I get off that airplane, take a Fasten (aka NOT Uber) and my first stop will be here. Every time. Cheers.

  9. Definitely a place everyone must try. We finally decided to try this place when looking for breakfast tacos (where we would not have to wait in a long line).

I tried a few breakfast tacos, that were excellent and a decent size.
    1. Egg, potato, bean & ranchera.
    2. Sausage, Egg, cheese, & ranchera.
    3. Chorizo, Egg, cheese, & ranchera.

I was not overly fond of the chorizo (not bad, but had an odd flavor that I did not like), so I did not eat that one.

The sausage was a link. Tasty; but, I would really have gathered it be mixed in with the eggs.

The ranchera sauce was tasty. But, it was more like a picante sauce from my experience. It was definitely tasty, though.

All in all, this place is an awesome hidden Austin treasure. I definitely suggest stopping in for breakfast, and don’t forget a carafe of Mimosa… đŸ˜‰
