Saffron serves an eclectic mixture of traditional Indian Cuisine punctuated by the flavors of the Himalayas. Our food stand true to its roots and origin while we source most of our produce locally. All dishes, sauces, naans and desserts are made in house from scratch. We are proud to be the first restaurant in Austin with a dedicated Nepalese menu. Nepal is a land of many flavors, while many of its dishes are indigenous and indicative of its culture and people, while few are inspired by its immediate neighbors, India and China. Our Nepalese menu is a thoughtful mix of both.
We are closed everyday from 2pm to 5pm.

  1. One of my favorite in Austin.

Me and my husband stopped at Austin for Saffron on our way to San Antanio.
    Totally worth it.

We went in when they were serving buffet but staff were nice to let us order from menu as item I wanted to try was not in buffet. Professional staffs

Make sure you try Kathmandu style Kothe Mo:Mo. So juicy.. yummmm… Chicken Mo:Mo was steaming hot when we got it. If its not steaming its not GOOD Mo:Mo its signature of MO:MO and many resturant here in US fails to do that.

Nepali decoration was heart warming. They were playing mix of indian and Nepali music. We hardly hear any Nepali song even if the resturant is Nepali. So Thank you Saffron 🙂

Will definitely stop again and again when we are around.

  2. Fantastic service. Great flavors. Diverse menu.

Try the cauliflower appetizer and the tandoori lamb!

  3. DE.LICIOUS saag paneer, rosemary cheese naan, and mango lassi. Sweetest customer service I’ve had from any business in a long time. We’ll be back very soon and I can hardly wait!

  4. Easily my favorite Indian meal that I’ve found in Austin.

Staff is extremely friendly and attentive. I tried the Bombay Brussels and they may possibility be the best Brussels Sprout dish I’ve had… so I highly recommend giving those a try.

For my main course, I went with the Malai Kofta and was very happy with it. Flavor was strong and it packed a little more spice than most Malai Koftas that I’ve had… which was welcome!

If you are into Indian, I’d put Saffron at, or near, the top of your list of places in Austin!

  5. We stopped in to get some momos (dumplings). For her birthday she wanted some Nepali food. We ended up getting the chicken momo, chilli chicken, chicken lollipops and chicken choila.

The chicken momos were tasty. The dumplings had really good flavor. Just keep in mind, these may come out last since they have to be steamed. For us, it was the last thing to come out. The sauce to accompany the dumplings had good flavor too. The chilli chicken was also good. It’s the Nepalese-Chinese twist of fried chicken in gravy with bell peppers. It was good and not soggy. The chicken lollipops were really good. It comes out in 4 pieces. Crispy and good flavor. Oh yea!!! The chicken choila I will definitely pass on. I am just not a big fan of wasabi and I realize there are different varieties of this dish.

They have definitely changed the inside of this place up since we have been here. The buffet type area has been changed to just a table where I assume they may put some hot plates on it. I don’t see any of the curry in a hurry signs either. BYOB in this place is cool. Parking can get tricky. Just be sure not to park in another business’ spot to avoid getting towed. Also, they will accept the Yelp check in offer. Try them out if you want to get some Indian or even try Nepali food.
