Live Music: The Texases
The Texases are a classic country cover band based in San Antonio who playfully bill themselves as the “Greatest Classic Country Cover Band, Ever.” The band first began when co-founders and guitarists Jerid Morris and Travis Buffkin, who went to college together, turned a casual gig into a full country ensemble.
Their repertoire is built on vintage country gold. They play classic country hits from the ’90s on back, from Merle and Willie to George and Garth, with a particular fondness for Dwight Yoakam and a healthy dose of Johnny Paycheck. For the band, the appeal is less about chasing a record deal and more about delivering a rowdy, good-time night of nostalgic singalongs.
