Creek Show 2026 at Waterloo Greenway
Creek Show 2026: Lighting Up Waller Creek at Waterloo Greenway
Creek Show returns November 13–21, 2026, as Waterloo Greenway Conservancy’s signature light-based art experience. This annual event transforms sections of Waller Creek into an immersive nighttime gallery. Artists, architects, and designers create site-specific illuminated installations. Austinites celebrate the evolving urban landscape of downtown Austin while inviting the public to explore the creek in a magical new way.
A New Home at Phase II: The Confluence
After a decade along upper Waller Creek, Creek Show moves downstream in 2026 to Waterloo Greenway’s Phase II: The Confluence. This ecologically rich stretch between 4th Street and Lady Bird Lake opens to the public in June 2026. The new location offers a larger, more immersive setting. Light installations can interact with restored creek banks, native landscapes, and the dramatic confluence of water and city.
Creative Light Installations Along the Water
Each year, a competitive call for ideas selects bold, temporary works that use light, shadow, color, and reflection. Past installations have turned tunnels into glowing tunnels of color, lined paths with floating orbs, and created interactive sculptures that respond to visitors. The 2026 edition promises even bigger and brighter experiences as the event settles into its exciting new home at The Confluence.
Free Nights of Art, Nature, and Community
Creek Show is free and open to the public each evening during its nine-day run. Families, couples, and art lovers stroll the paths after dark to discover glowing surprises along the water. The event activates downtown Austin’s green space, supports Waterloo Greenway’s mission of conservation and connection, and offers a memorable way to experience the creek as a living, artistic corridor in the heart of the city.
