Here are our Best Rainey Street bars. Born from a small neighborhood of pre 1934 bungalows, Rainey Street maintains a unique historic character.

Once a sleepy residential street, albeit nestled right next to downtown, Rainey was rezoned as part of Austin’s central business district in 2004.

The original Rainey developers made use of the “neighborhood” feel of the area by remodeling the original bungalow structures to produce a unique backyard, front porch appeal. Subsequent developers have followed suit making Rainey Street one of the most unique entertainment districts in Austin.

Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden

At the end of the day Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden is all about being a wonderful place to eat, drink and hangout. Not too rowdy, not too laid back, just a good old fashioned good time. Javelina is a laid-back Rainey Street bar with an outdoor patio serving creative cocktails, drafts and a regional Texan menu. Javelina takes its cues from our favorite places in Texas: neighborhood ice houses, hill country beer joints and historic dance halls. They added some family recipes and ranch weekend ingenuity to their food and drink menu to round out a good time. If you had to throw a label at it we’d call it Hill Country Soul.
