Barfield, The Tyrant is one of Austin’s true live music originals. Led by veteran frontman Mike Barfield, the band blends Texas soul, funk, blues, garage rock, and a touch of psychedelic swagger into a high-energy show that’s become a staple of the city’s music scene.

A longtime fixture at the Continental Club, Barfield has built a loyal following with his larger-than-life stage presence, gritty vocals, and dance moves that are every bit as memorable as the music.

Guitarist Johnny Moeller of the Fabulous Thunderbirds has been a longtime collaborator, helping shape the band’s unmistakable Texas funk sound.
