Live Music: Ghostland Observatory – Halloween Show
Ghostland Observatory is an Austin electro-rock duo known for genre-blending music and spectacle-driven live shows. The band consists of front man Aaron Behrens, who provides vocals and occasionally plays guitar, and Thomas Ross Turner, who plays drums or synthesizer, with a sound described as a combination of electro, rock and funk. Formed in 2004, they’re known for high-energy live shows marked by Behrens’ dynamic, Prince-like stage presence.
They’ve become festival mainstays and local heroes. They released their first full-length album, delete.delete.i.eat.meat, in 2005, made their national TV debut on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in 2007, and were named band of the year by the Austin American-Statesman that same year. They’ve performed at major festivals including Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza, and have headlined Austin City Limits, with elaborate laser-and-mirror productions that became a signature of their concerts.
