Live Music: Rick Trevino
Rick Trevino is an acclaimed country artist of Mexican-American descent, born in Houston and raised in a musical Texas family. Signed to Columbia Nashville in 1993, he began his career with the debut single “Just Enough Rope,” the first mainstream country single to feature separate English and Spanish versions. He has charted fourteen singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and recorded seven studio albums.
He became one of the defining country voices of the 1990s. His highest-charting single, “Running Out of Reasons to Run,” reached No. 1 in 1996, and his self-titled album went gold. In the late 1990s he joined an all-star group of Mexican-American singers — including members of Los Lobos, Freddy Fender, and Flaco Jimenez — to form Los Super Seven, which won a Grammy in 1998, and his later work has increasingly explored his Tejano and cultural roots.
