Live Music: The Blues Specialists

The Blues Specialists aren’t just another Austin blues band—they’re part of the city’s musical history.

The group was founded by East Austin blues legends T.D. Bell and Erbie Bowser, whose partnership stretched back to the 1940s before they reunited to help revive traditional Texas blues for a new generation.

Today, the band carries on that legacy under the leadership of longtime member Mel Davis’s band, keeping alive the jump blues, swing, and T-Bone Walker-inspired sound that helped define Austin’s East Side blues tradition. With well over 200 years of combined experience among its members, this is the real deal.
