Live Music: WAR – 50th Anniversary Greatest Hits Tour
WAR are bona fide funk-soul legends. Formed in 1969, WAR is renowned for its eclectic fusion of funk, soul, jazz, Latin, rock, and street music, with socially conscious lyrics and a distinctive sound that has resonated for decades. The band’s achievements include over 50 million albums sold, 20 gold, platinum, and multi-platinum records, and an entry into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame.
The group is best known for genre-defining hits like “Low Rider,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?,” and “The Cisco Kid.” WAR continues to be led by the group’s founding singer/keyboardist Lonnie Jordan, and “Low Rider” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2014. Their current touring celebrates the 50th anniversary of the landmark 1975 album Why Can’t We Be Friends?
