Established in 1975 by the late Clifford Antone, Antone’s is an iconic blues venue located in downtown Austin.

Over the past 40 years, Antone’s has brought Austin a variety of blues and R&B musicians from across the country.

Artists including B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Ray Charles, and James Brown have graced the Antone’s stage. The venue also helped develop local talent like Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bob Schneider, Gary Clark Jr., and others.

In 2015, the historic brand was restored. A new team brought the iconic venue back to the downtown Austin landscape with a renewed focus on once again making Antone’s the “Home of the Blues.”

  1. We were in Austin a few days ago and caught Kim Wilson. It was GA standing room only. However,. I’m a disabled Vet with a bum knee and even though I attempted to stand a shortly found out that my knee was going to corporate. So I asked the staff if there was anyway that they could accommodate a chair or a table and I’d be willing to pay for any relief.

Well to my surprise there were two young dudes that were willing to help me out. Unfortunately, I only got the name on one of them his name was Rob, the other guy well he had long hair and a hat on. Both these guys came to my rescue!

I’d like to thank these guys and let everyone that reads this that the employees at Antone’s are ACE’S in my book! Thank Guy’s. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated what y’all did. I thank you and my knee thanks you!
    Greatly Appreciate!

    Respectfully,
    Rick Marez

  2. I came here for the Prince Tribute night with a small group. We left our car with the valet at the steak place next door since we had just dined there and walked over.

It’s a pretty large space considering the location and all the staff from door guys to bartenders were friendly. The lines for the bathroom were a little bit long but this is to be expected in any bar downtown. The drink prices are a bit higher than I am used to since I mostly go to bars off of sixth street, on the East side or near my house.

They get a bunch of great music talent through here and this show was spectacular. The only complaint I have is that it was really hot in the venue and the sound wasn’t so great on the outer areas of the room. If you come here make sure you are dressed appropriately and stand towards the middle of the room.

  3. Absolutely a awesome evening listening to jazz, swing & blues. Crowd was great – everyone seemed like serious music aficionados and digging it all. Also had a decent wine selection. Bam. We will be back.

  5. I love this place. The quality of music is amazing. As a dancer I wish they had wooden floors, but c’est la vie. I love the location, it is so much easier to just wander past and pop in now that it is downtown.

They don’t take cards at the door, so make sure to bring cash for the door/tips.

  6. This place is AWESOME!!! If you enjoy the Blues and the Legends of the Blues, you cannot pass Antone’s up! We were walking down the streets of downtown Austin, obviously tourists…a local person overheard us talking about what we wanted to do and hear as far as live music. She told us about Antone’s. Wow!!! I probably spent over an hour looking at the old pictures and posters on the walls all while taking in live Blues!! It doesn’t get any better than this! I will definitely visit Antone’s again!

  8. I love this place. We took my little sister, who was visiting, for her birthday. It was the one place she was dying to go. It happened to be free cover, and $2 Lonestar Tall Boys. I mean out of the gate it was a recipe for fun. The music was incredibly fun, and I got to take a few spins on the dance floor with my wife. The cherry on the top was the great boot shine I got out front from the guys that have worked there for decades. They had some fun stories to tell. If you’ve never been, GO. If you’ve been in the past, but forgot about it, GO BACK. Support this iconic Austin spot, so that we never lose it!

  12. I lived in Austin for 14 years, yet never got to Antone’s in that time; it was a busy time at home and work. On a business trip to the ATX this month, I decided it was the right time and place to make my first visit to Antone’s, “the Home of the Blues.” Went on a “Blue Monday” night to see and hear Nakia & The Blues Grifters. They did not disappoint with a high-energy, virtuoso set of blues classics. Check out Antone’s whenever you are in Austin, especially if you live in Austin!

  13. Antone’s definitely is the best night club to hear REAL LIVE MUSIC!!! The Blues is back!!! Definitely had a great night enjoyed Jimmie Vaughan, Lou Ann Barton and Gary Clark Jr, Mike Flanigin, Derek O’Brien at the 41st Anniversary Show Friday night!!!

  14. Went for a comedy event and absolutely loved the redesign. The vibe inside is great and I can’t wait to go back for a concert. Good selection of local beers on draft and a friendly staff.

  15. Antone’s has morphed into a beautiful butterfly! I adore the new space. Not as big or industrial as the past location and with better acoustics. There’s some class going on here. Plus the owners have added a number of tables to the large dance floor. You know everyone dances here, right? Even if you stand up at your table and shake it.

We saw Miss Lavelle White several weeks ago. If you have not seen this Blues Icon, get yourself down there! Typically, she plays an early show at 6:30. Miss Lavelle White is seriously hot for a woman of 86 years young. I love her style and her original songs. When I got up to dance she continued to sing: “Take yer drawers off” over and over! I wanted to follow her orders as she has one of those melodious bluesy voices that make me swoon. But I decided I’d err on the side of discretion this time.

When we left for dinner, we met Preston, former US Marine, working a pair of boots and conversing with his customers right outside the door. Next to him, House Park Barbecue was offered for cheap by a young friend. Austin is still a small town after all and Antone’s obviously embraces the concept.

One mention about, Will, an Antone’s co-owner. I contacted him and asked a special favor for our visit and he was extremely gracious in complying with my request. How wonderful that in Austin you can still ask a large and famous music venue for assistance and someone will help you. I’m a fan forever.
