At the end of the day Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden – Rainey Street is all about being a wonderful place to eat, drink and hangout. Not too rowdy, not too laid back, just a good old fashioned good time. Homemade sausage, craft beer, pig roasts, beef jerky, pickled vegetables, spring days in Texas, Sunday brunch, all forms of Americana and country music, are a few of our favorite things. 1. Everything about this place is awesome! Beers on tap for days! Seats for you and all your friends! Great food! A must try is The Exotic South Texas Antelope & Venison Merguez! Also get the large of House-Made Chili Cheese Fries! Try beers of the Seasonal menu! All of these things will not disappoint.

  2. Absolutely loved this place. We went with a large group (10 of us) during the F1 race weekend. The “beer hall” format of the place makes it a fun, lively, and approachable place for a big group (though it would work really well for smaller groups as well). We were there for a rainy night, so didn’t get a chance to enjoy the patio… Next time. 🙂

As for the “bangers”, there’s a lot of great stuff on the menu. We each had something different, and no one was disappointed. Some of the items on the menu are fairly uninspired (maybe for the less adventurous?), but others are unique and really flavorful. I tried the duck with fig confit (matched to a nice Belgian White) and was super happy. There’s also great sides to share; we loved the Poutin and Chili Fries! The beer selection in this place is amazing, and that only would make the trip worthwhile. They have everything from the usual microbrews, to the best european beers, to some great local favorites.

Topping it all off, the service is also impeccable; our wait staff helped us find great beers to match our individual tastes and had great food recommendations too. The only slight (very slight) mark against them was when the check came they automatically put on a 20% service charge. Our waitress earned it, but it was slightly off-putting to see something higher than the customary 18%. We probably would’ve put in the larger amount, so it thankfully wasn’t a big deal for us.

We’ll certainly be back to Banger’s.

  3. Great place! Possibly my favorite on Rainey St. Live music and a great beer selection make for a good time.

The bratwurst was amazing as well. There’s a bit of a line during peak hours, so plan accordingly.

  4. This bar/restaurant in the heart of Rainey street is awesome. Known for the endless options of sausage and beer, it’s a great place to start your Rainey adventure. Fill up on some yummy food and one of their 50+ beers on tap, and stay for the live music and dogs galore in the outdoor seating. Bangers also is a great brunch spot for Sunday funday, especially with their signature manmosa (a whole champagne bottle in a huge mug with a splash of orange juice)- only $10 on Sunday’s!

Some good food I’ve had here: sun dried tomato infused chicken sausage (excellent), veggie blt sausage (not so great), and pulled pork from a smoke out Saturday. I highly recommend trying out their special smoked meats on Saturdays- usually smoked for 24 hrs so the flavors are delicious.

Fun crowds, not so great service on busy days, but a good time nonetheless!

  5. My first introduction to Rainey street and boy, it did not disappoint. Live music, lively crowd, a million beers to choose from. Did I die and go to heaven?

The seating outside is communal and we arrived at the perfect time because our group of 6 didn’t have to wait at all. Our server Ethan was funny and offered great suggestions on food and beer which was great because I am probably the most indecisive person in the world.

Get the chili cheese fries!! BTW, the big is BIG. Like whoa tray of cafeteria tots size big. Great place!

  6. It’s a good thing I don’t live in or near Austin, because I’d be here all the time…and that just wouldn’t be healthy. Well, it’s healthy for the soul, at least, because this place makes me happy. Over 100 beers on tap, including some truly one-of-a-kind ones, and more than 30 house-made sausages? What’s not to love? It’s all contained in a relaxed beer garden environment under the stars, with plenty of space. The only possible “con” I can come up with? The selection is so overwhelming, and it’s so hard to decide what you want, that it can make your head spin.
