  1. Blue Starlite is quaint, it’s quirkly, and it’s just good wholesome fun. This was one my husband and I’s favorite things we did during a trip to Austin. We called ahead because we weren’t sure if the SUV we rented would be permitted in to see the film we wanted, but the gentleman answering the phone let us know it would be okay since it was winter and therefore the slow season. So I would say if you have a bigger vehicle, definitely call ahead! We had no issues with ticketing, we purchased at the door and we were able to hook up to the sound using the radio no problem. The setup is a little wonky, but I felt it made it that much more fun. I loved that they had a mix of newer movies and old classics, on the night we went they had a lot of Christmas movies to choose from so we chose Die Hard. We had the best time eating popcorn in the back of the car and enjoying our BYOB. I would definitely recommend this for a fun night out, but just a reminder to bring a blanket if you plan on camping out in the off season!

  2. This is my new favorite place on earth and I say that with complete seriousness. We went to a movie in the little walk-in area in the forest, and it was all so vintage and charming and chill. The customer service was 10/10-they gave us all bug spray in the middle of the movie when we needed it and gave us a coupon for free drinks. Both of the drive-in screen areas appeared to be really nice and not crowded. This place at sunset, in the month approaching Halloween, playing cult classic movies, was for lack of a better term…. a vibe. Catch me there at least once a month for the rest of my time in Austin.

  3. This is a neat little experience like traveling back in time. They have great options for their showings and the snack shack for the staples. Is a fun experience whether with family or friends.

  4. Great experience! Recommend everyone experience the Blue Starlight. Get the concession package- pays for the car to see the movie, popcorn, and 2 boxes of candy. Once you get in and situated, turn your radio on to the channel they give you and get comfy! BYOB is also a big plus!

  5. This place is such a treasure! Didn’t even know they existed until I saw a Groupon, so glad I bought it. We roasted smores, had popcorn and soda, and tuned in to the right radio station to watch an old movie! Staff was super nice and we had the best date night 🙂

  6. This is for sure one of my new favorite activities in Austin. Not only is it a really cool, chill space but the people couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. I brought my friend that needs accessibility due to being in a wheelchair and having a wheelchair van with a ramp. We arrived a little early and two of the gentlemen that worked there assisted me in back the van in just right so that there was plenty of room for the ramp and for us to sit on the pavement next to the car (I had purchased the extra spot). One of the gentlemen (unfortunately I didn’t get his name) checked on us multiple times and offered assistance every time. I highly recommend everyone giving this place a try for a fun night out! Cheers to them for being 110% inclusive and providing a welcoming atmosphere to everyone.

  7. Love this place! So cute , friendly staff, decent concessions and for a good price! They do a lot of special events, we went to love is a drag complete with a drag show before watching moulin rouge! From the street it looks kinda sketch but once your parked it’s homey tucked in a little urban forest of sorts. The owner is a great guy and also does shows in the vail valley in Minturn, I recommend both locations!!!! Support small business and cool stuff and go check out blue Starlite ! You’ll be glad you did. (And probably come back next week)

  8. Came here for a date night, it was so cute. Watched a nice movie at the side show and we really enjoyed. Popcorn and 2 candy boxes with the car a lot of two. We will definitely be back!! All the workers were really nice and helpful. Overall our experience was wonderful and worth every penny! My picture wasn’t great, but the side side was very nice. Smaller screen but they don’t over pack it with cars.

  9. Our car didn’t start at the end of the night. They were as nice as can be. They got out their jumpers and hooked me up. Such great customer service. Blue Starlite is what Austin is all about.

  10. This was my first Drive-In Movie experience EVER. When I saw they were having a double feature of The Goonies and The Never Ending Story it was a no brainer. Two great movies from my childhood. We weren’t sure what to expect but it turned out to be a really cute and kitschy place. There are decorations all around the front as you head towards the big screen in back. There is a concession stand trailer and a portable air conditioned restroom. They sell all of the necessary candies, sodas, and even a s’mores kit. The owner talked to us a couple of times and he was super friendly and enthusiastic about the place and thanked us for coming. Very nice and welcoming place. Great place for families but perfect for hipsters, of which there are too many to count in Austin, as well.

  11. Fantastic! I had originally planned to attend monster movies here during last October, but a change in ability to attend prevented me from watching monster movies galore. I was crushed. Last night made up for everything. Scrambling to the car, speaker on, full of hot dogs, on comes the double feature of two of my very favorite films, Idiocracy and Escape From New York. I can basically recite every line from Escape, but it had been awhile for Idiocracy.
This is truely an Austin experience. While it is hard to find in the dark so use a GPS. They are going to move, and I will be following them to their new location, no matter where that is.

  12. Oh my gosh! Cutest piece of Americana found in Austin! You ever wanted a slice of old school history, movies, popcorn, hot dogs and more? Well, you’re in luck!

Blue Starlite Mini Urban Drive is here in Austin city limits to show you a great fun time! I’m so glad I had the opportunity to scope out what they’re all about and it’s such a blast! Picnic tables and patio chairs out front with speakers, or tune in via a radio station to listen along in your car! Snacks in car and cozy up with friends and family for a fun, affordable movie night!

Hubs and I nommed on hot dogs and some popcorn and watched Idiocracy! Hilarious especially with our 2017 election activities taking place! I’m stoked and will rave forever how 2017 can still hold awesomeness with a place like this! Abundant parking and a bit hard to find if in the dark, but google maps led us to the right place! When they move, we’re sure to venture out for a good time as I frequently see movie theme events taking place! Well done Blue Starlite! 🙂
