Argentine cooking brought vibrantly to life with the freshest organic ingredients Austin has to offer. Rich and satisfying combinations without the excess fuss of most gourmet restaurants.

Traditional Argentine empanadas and lomito beef sandwiches share the menu with fusion food like spicy chipotle gnocchi, a flavor you just have to try to believe. The vibe of the restaurant is warm and lived-in, with soft lighting and rustic seating. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the cuisine and the unique wine list.

A taste of Argentina and its culinary traditions in Austin. Buenos Aires sources most of their products locally as part of our efforts to support our local farmers and economy. Fresh and delicious homemade food made with love daily. The greens are organic and dressed with signature dressings prepared on site daily. The meats served are certified angus beef and raised responsibly.

Buenos Aires Café’s mission alongside serving high quality food is to give back to the community and respect our environment. We recycle and compost all material.

  1. I came with a few friends on Saturday night. It was freezing outside but the atmosphere in here is so cozy. It feels like a little romantic escape inside. We started with empanadas and some delicious vino. They had several seasonal specials. We had trouble deciding what to order since everything sounded so yummy. The prices are a little high compared to some other east side spots. I ordered a roasted chicken with polenta and chard and it was absolutely delicious. I could spend hours here drinking wine and chatting with friends. It’s a fantastic spot for a date or a special meal.

  2. I think this is one of my favorite spots in Austin! Fantastic Argentinian food and drinks, with a romantic/intimate setting. They have great cocktails and a fantastic wine selection. You order individual empanadas – the veradura & carne picante are my favorite. For dinner, their gnocchi is fantastic as is their meat selection (great steak).

They also have happy hour from 3 – 6:30, with $3 empanadas, great tapas and reduced wine/cocktail prices. If you want to go with a large group, they do take reservations with groups of 8+.

  3. Best Panqueques ever!! But they should have more beef cuts such entraña and tira de asado. The salad was so good.

  4. All of the yum. Had the redfish, lamb skewers, some kind of fried cheese, and the mixed plate with veggies (there were three of us). I was impressed by everything I tried and left happy. I was pretty surprised they didn’t have to roll me out.

  5. Popped in here casually as I was roaming the east side and saw this place served empanadas. Decided to give it a try so I plopped down at the bar and ordered just one spicy beef empanada that cost ~$3. Served with their special chimmichuri sauce, I can say it was the BEST empanada I’ve ever had! So flavorful and fresh. I will have to return here for a full dinner soon, but for now, this will be my go-to for authentic empanadas!

Note on the restaurant ambience: I’d say a little more fancy than I would expect. It was still casual, but there’s big fancy furniture and everyone is drinking wine at dinner!

  6. This place is the perfect date spot. Milonga Room needs its own Yelp page- it’s the speakeasy bar UNDER the restaurant where you can order tapas and drinks (after entering by knocking and giving a password). So amazing. The empanadas and Malbec will blow you away!

  7. How has no one mentioned the Milonga Room yet? Should I not? I’ll just whisper about it:

So. Zach is the kind of bartender who will ask you “have you ever tried [BLANK] liquor before?” To which the answer of course is no because this is some special stuff and even if you have tried it the answer is still, anyway, no. With a flourish he will produce quaint little glasses for you and your main squeeze, pouring out a perfect sampling of a marvelous liquor that originally hails from another country and is stored in a beautiful bottle.

That’s the life at the Milonga Room. We sat at the bar after catching a quick bite at Buenos Aires upstairs. We could have ordered a few apps (omg the empanadas) at Milonga Room, however, before enjoying a drink or two. The space is mighty intimate: seats lined some of the wall like a cozy pocket – a botty pocket, if you will. Everything looked shades of crushed red velvet (though there may not have been any velvet in the vicinity) and the bathroom was a sweet little sanctuary of vintage cool.

Later, my date remarked that these were the best drinks he’s had in Austin. Ever. Really! I attribute this diretly to our experience sitting at the bar and getting something of a libation education. It’s definitely better to know because knowing is half the battle (G.I. Joeâ„¢).

  8. Love the restaurant’s vibe and the look of the place!
It’s a classy/casual restaurant with a funky look to it. Authentic Argentinean food! The best thing here is the sangria! I tried many sangria by their Sangeria had some notes of cinnamon in it which surprisingly made it delicious.
I got the quarto leche cake because I wasn’t too hungry and it was delicious! The sponge cake isn’t as wet as a Mexican tres leche cake. The cream and fresh aspect of the strawberries made this dessert worth while!
    Will be coming back.
