  1. Craft Pride embodied that Texas spirit the most during our visit to the Lone Star State, and how convenient that it’s located along the iconic and hip Rainey Street. The bar inside was rather dark and dingy honestly, plus staring at the crazy art work on what they deem their tap board was making me dizzy. We thereby wandered out into the yard because they seemed to be the *it* place with a live band performing for the night. Into the expansive back patio we entered and then immediately noticed the presence of Via 313 Pizza, a food truck serving Detroit-style pizza, and whose other location in East Austin had been on our radars. A squared pizza melange was ordered and we sat back to watch the band. Some good ole’ rock n’ roll and country ear candy! This was one solid bar, and their tap menu was rather impressive too. Lots of Texas brewery suds to satisfy one’s sensory organs. Chill and fun spot that deserves a gander!

  2. If you want a taste of all craft beers in Texas, then come here! They have a bartender who will answer any questions you have. They have outdoor seating if you want to enjoy the weather. They also have awesome pizza in the back!

  3. I’m at Craft Pride again and they never disappoint. They had some new beers on tap and they were delicious. They always have some new and unique Texas brewed beers available that will please any beer lover. I love this place and I always stop by if they are open when I’m in Austin. It’s the best bar on Rainey street in my opinion.

  4. Perfect vibe for us, not too loud but enough to enjoy and still have a conversation while enjoying the night. The pizza was great and the beer list was amazing. We are from out of town and really liked this place.

  5. Craft Pride was a solid bar to check out while on Rainey Street, especially if you’re into craft beers. The selection here was one of the largest I’ve seen while I was in Austin, so I was glad to check it out.

The draft list had several rotating items, of various kinds of beers. I let the bartender know that I like really hoppy IPAs, more west coast styles, so he made a recommendation of the only imperial IPA they had. All of the beers are from Texas, so it was also great to learn about the different breweries around.

The inside space and bar area is on the smaller side, but that’s because everyone congregates at the backyard patio, which is where you’ll want to sit. By the time we arrived the patio was packed because there was a live band performing. But we ended up sharing a table with some others. Get here early if you want to come for the live music!

In addition to live music they do have a bottle shop where you can purchase and take home beers, and the Via 313 food truck, serving Detroit style pizzas. Craft Pride was a chill place to hang out and have a beer, which is my kind of place.

  6. Great selection of beer and a nice ambiance. Visiting from out of town and really enjoyed the live music and the pizza truck out back.

  7. When i mentioned i was going to Austin and wanted a place to get some local beers this was the place that was mentioned over and over again. It was a Thursday night so it was pretty quiet but we were ok with that! They have an awesome patio with liven music and a food truck that smelled amazing! I wasn’t even hungry but that food truck made me want to eat! Craft Pride has a large tap list with a wide variety of choices. If you are a beer lover like me definitely make this a stop on your list!

  8. Lots of beers on tap with a wide variety. We weren’t locals so we asked for recommendations from the bartender. They’re honest and will help guide you into their personal favorites based on the type of beers you like.

Our favorite was 8-1/2 MIN. Abs!

  9. Awesome place to grab a beer and take in some live music if it’s nice out

The space out back has ample seating, music that isn’t so loud that you can’t hear your group talk and an awesome pizza truck with via 313

The beer selection is fantastic, great variety of mostly local beers that will provide multiple good options regardless of your beer preference

Only downside is the inside portion isn’t too large, but I’d imagine it wouldn’t be too busy here on nights it isn’t nice enough to hang out in the backyard

  10. Live Music Review

I came to Austin to hear some live music. What I learned is that it is really difficult to find some good old live music. We were told to go to Rainy Street, but it was filled with mostly frat style places that had a “dj”. Not here though, not at Craft Pride.

As I was walking my “where is the music walk of shame”, I suddenly heard some twangy bluegrassy jamming going on. To my surprise, int he back of Craft Pride, I came across a 5 piece band of men and a woman singing their hearts out while playing on a mandolin, banjo, guitar and drums. Man, can these folks play.

The stage was meant for them. The crowd was having a great time listening to the group of friends do what they do best.

Dont Blame it on the Weed is a great group of musicians that I highly recommend seeing. This venue is a great setting for that.

  11. Craft Pride was truly one of the highlights of my birthday weekend in Austin. So much so that we spent Friday night and most of Sunday afternoon there. The extensive beer list gave my husband and me the opportunity to try a wide variety of quality local beers. Even during busy times, the bar staff was friendly and efficient. The back patio/courtyard area is comfortable and intimate; perfect for taking in the incredible musical acts. My fave by far was Mac Macintosh. WOW! Sunday had chiller tunes, but perfect for a relaxed weekend daytime vibe. There is also indoor seating and a side/front patio if music is not your thing. The pizza food truck is super delicious- we tried their two most popular- one was a pepperoni and the other fig and prosciutto. Craft Pride is certainly the gem of Rainey Street, and maybe of all of Austin.

  12. If you like craft beer and righteous pizza this is your place. We have been here a number of times so when we heard they were having an anniversary party this weekend we figured it would be a good take before the SXSW madness hits. Beerwise they have all your local favorites and then some. This past weekend they had some special beers from a few local breweries.

A cool band was playing out back in their beer garden which kept the party atmosphere going strong. Got the munchies then order a pizza from their food truck.

Service can be a tad slow especially when patrons are sampling beers but that gives you plenty of time to select your next brew.

  14. This place was fabulous! We stopped in because we were interested in trying Texas beer, since we were vacationing in Austin, and we ended up staying for hours because everything was so great. The bartender took the time to help my husband and I choose flights of beer and put it all in the right order; he let us sample things, and made sure we’d be happy with what we got. Great live music and amazing pizza in the back courtyard kept us even longer. Such a fun place, and such great beer!

  15. Super cool bar with live music! Lots of local craft beers on draft and a little shop around the corner of the bar with a ton of cans and lots of cider! We had a great time here and the music was amazing!

  16. I got the beermosa with grapefruit. There’s a choice of orange juice or grapefruit juice. I love it, basically taste like juice with a hint of beer.

  17. We finally went in! Walked by this place several times and always thought it was a pizza place even though I saw the sign Craft. However I’ve been wanting to go to a place called Craft Pride since we moved to Austin. Ha! It took us bring a visiting stranger to go here.

The outside looked like it was going to be crowded inside. It was quite the opposite. It was comfortable and chill. A place to hang out. I noticed there were a lot of men. They had many locally made beer on tap. I didn’t count but maybe 30 or more? The outdoor patio with live band had more people than inside.

Overall we had a great experience.

  18. Homes turned into business establishments are what you’ll find along Rainey Street and that includes Craft Pride. Serving a great selection of craft brews that are Texan and not, any beer-lover will be pleased with the options available. The staff is very knowledgeable, too so feel free to ask for recommendations. Double Dry-Hopped Citra Smash IPA was my poison that evening hailing from Last Stand Brewing Company from Austin, of course. I had to try a local and it did not disappoint. It went rather well with my pizza from Via 313 which is a food truck parked in their beer garden out back. Now, that right there is a bonus. How about some live band performance that this city is famous for? Yep, they have it, too!

  19. Really enjoyed the visit to Craft Pride. I started with an Oktoberfest and my friend went with the Coffee Porter. Mine was good, hers was great. We headed out back found a table and listened to the live music.

Being a Sunday around 9 it wasn’t crazy busy so it was a nice chill atmosphere. There’s a pizza food truck too, so as we found ourselves getting hungry, we ordered and they brought it to our table. Goes great with the beer.

  20. Going down Rainey Street, there are a lot of options for bars. I was recommended by one of the local bartenders nearby to visit this spot even though they didn’t know I was into craft beer so I decided to stop by late night.

I may be a bit biased being a beer geek, but having a craft beer bar open super late where the beertenders are cicerones with both advanced knowledge and independent opinions, I couldn’t be happier with hanging out here trying many new beers and getting some beer knowledge so this is quite the gem.

Beer selection is large and good where most of their drafts are local. Based on what I’ve tried, it seems like they keep their lines clean and their glassware is washed properly. I wish there was a spot like this in my hometown. If I visit Texas again I would come here for sure!

  21. I was extremely surprised with their beer selection here! We came in to ask about parking in the evening and came back for the pizza truck that is parked in the back and to grab a drink. It’s a Monday and there is some awesome live music on the patio.

I’m currently drinking an experimental wheat called Falkor, and as a huge fan of the never ending story and wheat beers, it was the perfect choice! Highly recommended for a light/tasteful wheat beer.

The menu inside has some really interesting and “punny” beers and are mostly Austin local or Texas brews. On the end of Rainey St, in Austin and I’m shocked I’ve never stopped in before.

Its a very relaxed spot and I’m enjoying every second of it.

  22. By far my favorite bar in Austin. If you’re a craft beer lover, this is the place to go. It’s on the tail end of Rainey St. so it’s not too crowded and spacious enough to fit a lot of people. It has a very chill vibe and relaxing atmosphere. Not the ratchet of 6th street!

They have a large selection to choose from; blondes, hefes, ambers, pale ale and stouts.

    Henry N. , 7 years ago
  23. Unlike a lot of places on Rainey, this place feels much more relaxed and laid back. They only have local Texas beers on tap. I hate having to shift through a list to find something local when I am traveling. They seem to have a ton of sour options which is also not common where I am from so that was awesome.

    Kailey S. , 7 years ago
  24. One of my favorite spots for a beer on Rainey Street. They have a great outdoor patio in the back as well as the front and have a cozy (not huge) indoor area for seating.

They have a large selection of drafts from largest to blondes to hefe’s to ambers and stouts. They have flights, 10 and 20oz’s of most beers. Some of them only come in smaller sizes.

They back outdoor space is great not only to grab a beer or a few but also kid and parent friendly. Which is nice to see in some places. They do not have blaring music but more of a laid back vibe.

Oh and don’t forget about the pizza truck out back. It’s a hidden gem but the food is amazing. Normal slices come out in 4 so if you have a larger group ask them to cut the pizza in 8. They won’t mind but won’t do it after you get it.

All in all this place is fantastic. The beers are changing and always keep us coming back when we’re in Austin.

Keep up the great work Craft Pride. We’ll be back.

    Cheers
    Justin
