Since 1951, Deep Eddy Cabaret has been Austin’s favorite neighborhood bar. The hottest jukebox and the coldest beer in Austin.

If you’re looking for Austin nostalgia this is the place. Deep Eddy is a shot and Lone Star kind of place, hang around long enough, you’ll probably buy a bag of Fritos from the back bar and play some Willie on the jukebox.

Shoot pool, play some cards, feed the jukebox and watch the Longhorns with home field advantage. Live music too !

Just across from historic Deep Eddy Pool on the shores of Lake Austin.

  1. As far as dive bars go, this really is one of the best.

It’s got cheap beer, with a few craft options. It’s got a old decor and furniture, while remaining very clean. It’s based around simplistic decor, while still feeling cozy. It’s dark like a dive bar should be, while still well-lit enough to be able to interact with friends and staff.

It’s also in a good, safe location which is nice.

  2. THIS is my kind of place. We stopped in for a beer on a super cold Saturday – and stayed for a few 1/2 pitchers!! This place is old school, it’s an old place! Dark on the inside with Christmas type lights making it feel festive. A bar full of regular fellows catching up and solving the problems of the world. A super sweet lady bartender taking good care of everyone. A friendly pooch wandering through, accepting a scratching or two then moving on to the next scratcher. They have Lone Star on tap, my favorite and it’s just not as common up here in D/FW as it is down Austin way – man, are they lucky. Beer was super cold. Great variety on the jukebox. What a great place to spend a Saturday early afternoon. Later in the afternoon some of the younger fellas came in and it was time for us to move on down the road. This will be a definite stop on our next trip back to Austin!

  3. For all of you newbies, I really don’t want to share this place with you. This is an old-school dive bar and when you walk in you feel like you’ve stepped through a Time Machine back to 1970. Really great bartenders and regulars who look like they’ve been there for decades. It’s a greatPlace to visit with a friend, coworker, client and have an ice cold something a rather. Go by and see for yourself and when you see the interior that looks like it’s from a movie set you’ll understand what I’m talking about.

  4. I love the ambience of this bar. Really takes me back. People are laid back and great music on the jukebox. Great bartenders.

  5. My favorite dive bar in Austin! Please don’t ever change! One of the last spots that feels like old Austin.

  6. Such a cool spot. Great service, loved the pool burgers and felt very comfortable on my own just hanging out. Thank you!

  7. This is a classic Dive bar that has real Austin vibe. The beers are mostly from Texas and the prices are cheap (by Austin standards). The space is small so it can get crowded on weekends. There are pool tables and TVs. Well worth checking out if you get a chance. I suspect this is what Austin was like 20-25 years ago. One of my favorite dive bars!

  8. Do you love dive bars? Well if the answer is yes you are in luck because deep eddy Cabernet delivers.

Since it was Christmas Eve the bar was not packed and we easily parked in the back by Deep Eddy pool.

The bar appeared to have its regulars and everyone was watching the Cowgirls play against Seattle.

The bartender was friendly and I ordered a Tito’s with pineapple juice. No go on the pineapple juice so I subbed it for orange juice. My husband grabbed a few beers from what was available on draft. Honestly the beer selection is limited (they had natty light on draft). Note the prices are great and for draft beer you can choose from glass, mini and pitcher.

This place is very chill. They have a few TVs, pool table and a few games. Enjoy!

  9. There should be a Deep Eddy in every community. No one should have to drive here, they could just walk, every night you’d walk in Cheers style and get greeted with a chorus of hellos, and you could drink all night, for cheap. This is the epitome of local, dive bar.

Even with it’s unique, raw charm, Deep Eddy doesn’t seem unwelcoming like a lot of OG bars can. They invite all walks, new and old Austin – which is what I like about it the best.
