  1. What a fun way to spend the day in Austin! Was so much fun riding around on the upper deck! Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining and I learned new things about The area even having lived in Austin for years. Such a fun experience!

  2. What a fun time! Great tour to take with out of town guests and/or learn more about the city of Austin! The top of the double decker bus is hot hot hot so be prepared to burn when you’re at a stop light. They did provide water, cool towels, misters and sunblock which was really great! The downstairs is air-conditioned but I didn’t feel much of a difference it’s still pretty hot. Great customer service, nice route hitting all the hot spots downtown, reasonably priced.  Steve was a great driver! I’d really like if they offered discounts on all of the businesses they stopped at.

  3. We took the final tour of the day today on the double decker bus. It was a hot day, but we sat up top to get the full experience.

I enjoyed the tour very much and appreciate that they provided us with water and cool towels. They even offered little cold water misters and sunscreen.

Overall, it was a bit overpriced – $25 per person for a tour that lasted a little over an hour and 15 minutes – but it is a great way to see the city. Our guide was enthusiastic and cheerful, and her love for the city was very apparent.

  4. We rode the bus yesterday. Loved it!  The time went by really fast. I wish they ran a little bit later. We almost missed the last bus back. Our guide was knowledgable and entertaining. As stated by other reviewers they offer you water, cold towels and sunscreen. I should’ve used sunscreen for sure. Anyway, I found it to be a great way to see parts of Austin without having to worry about driving and parking. I would recommend it to anybody who hasn’t done it yet and would like to see Austin in a unique way.

  5. Great experience. Get the on/off tickets and start in the morning.
They were so nice, Jessica (the driver) was the best!

  6. Worth the $$. Several tours a day. Rolled up to many Austin landmarks; LBJ library, University of Texas Stadium, infamous University Tower, State Capitol building, Sixth Street, Kurt Cobain’s Frog and many others. Tour guide is knowledgeable and witty n made tour interesting. Friendly staff. Handed out wet towels n ice water to keep us cool during bus ride. Hat recommended!

  7. We did the 90 minute tour without the on/off option. We were able to walk to most of these areas on our own for further exploration, but it allowed us to get a glimpse of a couple extended areas. It also gave us a great overview of Austin with some facts and history.
We had beautiful weather, so it was great to soak in the sun and enjoy the scenery!
The tour guide did a great job! Everyone at this tour was also very nice.
Just the right amount of time and good value for the price!

  8. Who doesn’t enjoy a good Double Decker bus tour?

I was travelling Austin with my mom (awww) and she likes to do a bus tour to get a feel for the city. Luckily, DDA exists – and I say that honestly, since it’s a small businesses that’s just getting started.

We paid the $25 per person to do the full loop, or you can pay more to be able to get on and off again. This is a little high for a two hour tour but it was nice.

The loop was excellent. We saw all of the city, got interesting historical facts and stopped at stops where people would want to go.

Right now, they company only has one bus. Unlike other cities, where hopping on and off happens all the time, you really have to time this one right, as it only will come by about once an hour or so. So it’s less of a hop off and hop on, and more of a hop off and then hop on at a really specific time or you’re kind of screwed.

Still, it’s a fun way to see the city, and as a tour around Austin, I feel like I know the city much better now.

  9. Laura and Chris are a great team. Chris expertly maneuvers around low branches and is a gentleman helping you on and off the bus. Laura is just a lovely host and tour guide. The sun is pretty powerful so umbrellas are provided.

We hopped off at stop 5 for food trucks and this was a bad decision. We should have stopped at 4 in SOCO. Not a whole lot to do at our stop and killing two hours was hard.

Because this company is so new the time between drop offs and pick ups is two hours. When they have grown and added additional vehicles to their fleet that time should be shorter.

  10. The best way to see Austin! Over a holiday weekend, I got the honor of meeting two great ladies operating the Double Decker Austin bus, Buttons and Yvonne. I boarded at the Austin Visitors Center for the two-hour tour. The tour guide was extremely courteous, thoughtful, funny, and informative. She seemed like she really loves Austin, especially since she said she want to high school there. I was offered cold water, sunscreen, and a cold towel throughout the tour. As the brochure cited, the tour bus stopped at five locations allowing riders to hop on or hop off if that is what they paid for. Along Congress, people atop bars and restaurants waved at us. Same for along 6th Street. We had to duck down when tree branches were near, but the driver did such a great job moving slowing through them.

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Austin, especially for the first time.
