  1. What a fabulous brewery, the drive in from Austin is a perfect example of hill country beauty, the grounds have ample parking, friendly knowledgeable staff, delicious libations and cuisine, and man I’ve never seen a prettier brewery. Set on a working farm you’re just not going to get better views than this. While we were there we actually got a chance to interact with their baby goats

  2. What a great welcoming place. So friendly. Got to experience the baby goats this evening. What an amazing thing. TC Superstar played at their beautiful venue area. What a place to have a GREAT TIME!

  3. I don’t drink beer, but even then, this place is amazing and worth a visit. It’s a ways out of Austin, but the farm setting is beautiful, peaceful and family friendly. My group loved the beer and wood fire pizzas. The rooster mole was GF and some of the best mole I’ve tried! The ingredients were fresh and rustic.

There are multiple bars with different beer, cider and wine offerings, making Jester King fun for anyone, not just beer drinkers. Lots of entertainment for kids, pet friendly and great for large groups. Other brewery settings don’t even come close!

  4. Pros: Delicious farm fresh food. Lots of options for people with dietary needs. Sand “put”, climbing toy, and lots of open space for kids to play. Lots of seating. Delicious cold Reverse Osmosis water.

Cons: my single extra pizza order for my kids didn’t get sent to the kitchen, so we ended up waiting a LONG time waiting for a text before going to talk to the kitchen. They didn’t know why it wasn’t sent through, but then expedited it. Unique to this visit, won’t keep me from going back.

We had perfect breezy 70 degree weather during our visit here. The kids could have stayed much longer just playing in the sand. It’d be awesome if there could be a little fenced in area for dogs to unleash and play with each other, but our pup was still happy to be there leashed and watching.

The food was fantastic. Our first order came out I in good time. The second pizza for my kids got lost, so that was annoying for my crew. Will be back!

  5. Whether or not you enjoy that lovely funk most sought after in a barrel-aged, yeast fermented sour, there is still something to be had here for everyone. You are sure to encounter sours on their beer list, but they do have other varietals, even a “table beer” for those not so fond of the strong taste of beer. A list dedicated entirely to guest taps are sure to offer you even more variety.

Everyone knows JK for Atrial and SPON, but they are sure to have other farmhouse ales, usually those fermented in their own cultured yeast. The setting is also very “farmy” as JK really is a farmhouse with a large pasture. Most seating is in the outdoors and overlooks this lovely pasture. You have the option of strolling around the property and even wandering up to the main brewery for free tours offered at various times throughout the day. There are two bars which serve most of the same thing, but certain beers are only at one location.

They do culture their own yeast, so while I was grabbing left and right for beers at each bar, I did eye the *Today’s Sourdough* on their menu over at their kitchen. I did eventually give into temptation and ordered this hearth-baked sourdough quarter with apple butter and herb infused olive oil on the side. There’s something so comforting about fresh bread especially the yeasty kind as is often the case with sourdough. It was quite moist, but fluffy and yeasty as it should be.

JK is the more well-known brewery in the Austin area, but it is still 40 minutes outside the main city center. Honestly, there’s not much good beer to be had in Austin, but somehow JK still makes it a worthy beer destination. And so much more if they have a bottle release of Atrial. In our case, we took a chance by coming during New Years hoping they would have something, but they did not. Either way, a worthwhile visit it was and golden hour out on the benches and overlooking the pasture was quite memorable.

  6. Love this place. I had a group of about 25 come here to celebrate my birthday. It was of course an added bonus that we had absolutely perfect weather. The beer is great and the pizza and other food offered is delicious. There is something to do for people of all ages here: cornhole, goat tour, farmers market and more! There is even a playground for the kids! So pack up the fam and come enjoy a fun filled day at the brewery!

  7. Jester King, I am a fan. Since one of my closest friends now lives in Austin and trusted me enough to be in his wedding, we found ourselves here the night before he officially tied the knot.

This was my first experience visiting a brewery on a ranch as we don’t have a whole lot of these back on the East Coast. And I gotta say, it was a really cool atmosphere. You want space? You’ve got it here. In fact, this is the perfect place to hang out with a group – large or small on a nice sunny day which is exactly what we did.

As far as beer goes, they seem to lean pretty heavy on the farmhouse ales and sours but you can also find a stout or 2 and perhaps even an IPA if you’re lucky. In addition to the 3 bars, they also have a food ordering station; however, pizza seems to be the most popular item since they have a legit pizza oven – the Calabrese was actually quite tasty.

My only complaint is the amount of time that it took to get a beer. I’ve been to dozens of breweries and felt like I waited in line for more time here than anywhere else including super packed breweries where it’s hard to find space to stand, let alone order a beer.

Texas may not be a beer destination but when it comes to a tasty saison, inviting atmosphere and plenty of space to spread your wings, it doesn’t get much better than Jester King.

  8. Jester king is the perfect place to spend a few hours on a beautiful day. The venue is mainly outside with lots of seating at picnic tables. They have a ton of land so you can go walk around and view the beautiful hill country property. This place has some of the best craft beers in town, especially if you are a fan of sours. The flavors are delicious and easy to drink with very reasonable prices. They also always have very cool guest beers on tap that you likely won’t find at bars around town. Don’t even think about leaving without having a pizza.

  9. Great brewery! The property is beautiful and there is so much to explore. It is a great place for families to bring their kids. The beer was excellent and we took the brewery tour which was fun! The food was good too- the only complain is the pita bread that came with the sweet potato baba ghanoush was extremely hard, basically stale. We couldn’t eat it which was a shame since the sweet potato was delicious. The pizza was very good.

  10. We visited here from Milwaukee and have visited probably somewhere around 40 breweries nationwide. This was probably the best brewery I have been to in terms of location. It’s absolutely gorgeous.

I tried several beers and they were good, but consistently on the sour side which is not my preference. I wish I had tried a few more to see what else they offered. The staff was very friendly and make sure you go for a walk with your beer and find the goats and cats to pet. We will be back

  11. This place is so amazingly beautiful inside and out and the drinks are amazing but what really got me is when when I went to the restroom as a 5 foot one female most mirrors I cannot see into you I looked down and there’s a fucking foot store LOL and then I look over and there’s a jar full of tampons then as they come out of the bathroom laughing about it the amazing sweet bartender AJ gave me a few more free drinks to sample. With a warm stuff like this who could go wrong?! What an amazing place and what an amazing crew

  12. Awesome place to grab a glass of beer! Unfortunately their beer wasn’t my favorite but I loved the ambiance. We had burrata, (forgot what kind of..) salad and meat plate. Burrata and the salad were delish. Meat plate wasn’t very impressive.

I didn’t try pizza but my friends who had one said it was excellent! I’d go back and try it out next time!

  13. Jester King is an awesome Farmhouse brewery located off the beaten path in Hill Country. It’s about an hour drive away from downtown Austin. This brewery sells a number of funky creations, delicious food, and a really awesome atmosphere with outdoor seating. They are one of my favorite breweries in the states and I’ve been multiple times now, each more impressed than the last.

I’d highly recommend checking them out if you’re visiting Austin, but during the hotter months be sure to bring Sunscreen as the sun can be a bit relentless.
