  1. Awesome bar with great food! I was really surprised that the nachos were so good.  I chose to get rib-eye meat with it and was expecting some cheap-quality meat; it turned out to be the best, flavorful steak nachos I have ever had.

  2. Pros:
    Comfortable seating
    Great service
Easy to watch games from any table, even outside
    Free popcorn
    Good food (Killer nachos)
    Arcade basketball
    Inexpensive drinks
    Dog friendly patio

    Cons:
    It’s freakin LOUD in here!
    Food is pricey
Some of the food is really salty (Intentionally done so you order more drinks?)

Overall this place is one of the better bars on Rock Rose. Always our go-to spot when at the Domain.

  3. I hung out upstairs at Lavaca yesterday for St Patrick’s day. The service was quick and they had a live band upstairs as well. We ordered a poboy and the nachos and both were surprisingly good and the nachos were huge. If there were a few extra chairs and a tv to watch the ncaa tournament, I’d give it 5 stars but overall a great experience.

  4. First time here and we had a great time on Saturday afternoon. We got to enjoy the happy hour, which started at 3 and featured two of their draft beers along with other drinks. The drafts featured on that day were the Sessions Lager and the Side Car, both were very good. We sat at the bar and the three bartenders took really good care of us. We got hungry and decided to try something from the kitchen. We had decided on their shrimp, but lo and behold they had a Mexican Shrimp cocktail as a special that day. It was delicious. The shrimp was fresh and the onion and Serrano peppers in the cocktail sauce were great. It was served in mason jar with some nice thick tortilla chips, which made it a little challenging to eat, but we persevered. The couple next to us saw ours and wanted one, but they asked for it in a bowl, pretty smart of them. We will definitely be back to try their nachos, which looked great. Fun place.

  5. Eaten here many times.  The seared ahi Tuna blackened with dirty rice.  There are few places that just make you feel happy when you leave! Love this place the service has always been good screw these California idiots who move here and have a different mentality.  True austin places are dying daily.  Thank you Gilmore brothers for keeping austin alive

  6. Ignore the 1-Star reviews.  This place is an honest seafood joint, and one of the best around.  They charge a reasonable price for TERRIFIC seafood, especially compared to most local offerings.  Anyone upset by the service & leaving a 1 star review, in my opinion, needs to quit whining and realize there are some REAL problems in the world worth complaining about, and this place isn’t one of them.

You pay a fair price, you get amazing seafood you didn’t have to prepare yourself, and you get to continue living in the utopian bubble of the Domain. Quit complaining and just appreciate how good the food here actually is.

  7. This game place was so tasty! We tried the crawfish, grilled Cajun oysters and Grilled Mahi Mahi. Everything tastes awesome.

Wasn’t a fan of the cilantro fires, those were just boring. Wish they told us it’d be a basket of fries. Would have preferred a much smaller portion.

I already can’t wait to go back. So tasty and great spot to watch the game!

  8. We figured that there had to be at least one new sports bar at the Domain with a good setup for watching multiple football games at once (in addition to the Park). As far as I can tell, there is exactly one, and this is it. This place was clearly designed with this goal in mind. TVs everywhere with a nice selection of games on Sundays at noon. You can actually hear the volume. On a nice day, the openness to the outdoors without any glare on the screens can’t be matched anywhere in this part of town. Watch out, though, it’s always crowded during football games. For watching football alone, they definitely get five stars!

  9. I’m a big fan of the new Lavaca Street, and while it’s kept the vibe of the original it’s definitely the new and improved little sister. First of all, the restaurant inside is awesome. It’s definitely pricey for “bar food” but I’ve never had anything that didn’t taste great, honestly it doesn’t taste like bar food, it’s awesome. However the portions are out of control big, I’d definitely recommend sharing.. I don’t think I’ve even come close to finishing a plate of food. It’s mostly seafood but also has steak and chicken options and things like nachos, tacos and sandwiches.

They have tons of huge TVs positioned all over the bar so definitely a great place to catch a game, and they also have a patio out front. Drink prices are definitely fair and they have ample seating with all different table sizes so it would be easy to come with a big group. Definitely a step up from run of the mill sports bar, I’ll be back!

  10. I’m a fan so far. The fact that they’ve joined forces with Turf N’ Surf makes it much more appealing. I do agree with others that food prices are rather high, but it’s the Domain area. It’s expected. I came during the week and was told that the kitchen was open until midnight. The website says 10 PM, so who knows.

I’m sure this place gets packed on the weekend, but for a weekday trip, it was rather calm. It was a huge sigh of relief after leaving Kung Fu Saloon nearly deaf. As expected, they have a nice selection of beverages. Kudos to the bartender for not giving me “the look’ after requesting two samples of beers on tap.

I can see seating being an issue, especially if you want to kick back outside. Not a problem if you’re drinking, but if you’re eating and drinking…good luck juggling that.

I’ll be back again and see what the weekend madness looks like. Thumbs up so far!

  11. It is nice to have more options in North Austin and Rock Rose is blowing up with new restaurants and bars. While I would like to see better wine & bubbles options at Lavaca Street Bar to compliment their raw bar I do commend them on their extensive liquor options, local taps, and nice looking cocktail options. The stand out seating is their inviting wrap around patio and large indoor bar seating with flat screens showing the games.

What is unique to this shiny new location is the following:

    – extensive food menu to include the new extensive menu with raw bar launching soon to include ceviche, raw oysters and more

    – ample free parking in the red garage

    – friendly employees and quick service

    – pup friendly patio

I had some delicious blackened mahi mahi tacos and a glass of red wine. The fish was flavorful but not too spicy topped with mixed greens, slaw, fresh tomato, onion and cilantro drizzled in cilantro ranch dressing. The pair of tacos were served in a hardy portion, not your oh so fancy tiny tacos here!
