Maggie Mae’s, one of the largest entertainment venues downtown, is a must see 6th Street bar.

This venue is an authentic English Pub, a sports bar, complete with big screen TVs, a New Orleans style courtyard beneath the stars, and 3 full stages outfitted for live music.

It’s four historic downtown Austin buildings, beautifully restored, allowing for plenty of options for an evening out or your private event.

  1. I don’t go to east 6th often, but when I do, I make it a point to stop by. This a great venue that really uses the space they have to make multiple bar areas. The first floor has patio area with seating, two separate bars, and a stage with live music. The second floor is essentially a large rooftop “club” over looking 6th street. There is a decent sized dance floor, several bars, and plenty of elbow room.

Connected to this rooftop area is another somewhat plush club/bar area where there’s usually a dj or live band.

Each of these areas I described are pretty different from each other so it’s like getting to check out multiples places in one bar.

  2. This is a well-known establishment on the popular Sixth Street.
Absolutely adored visiting this place. It’s huge! There’s a cool bar area and another sort of outdoor patio and an upstairs.
    Decor is trendy and fun.
Drinks are very reasonably priced and the service incredible. I love it when people truly like their jobs and welcome patrons with open arms.
    Top notch!

  3. Maggie Mae’s is no typical 6th street bar. MM’s is outfitted with 6 rooms and a rooftop bar. Each separate room has different, unique decor. The New Orleans themed courtyard was a fun surprise but I really liked the rooftop as well. In spite of the huge venue, it was pretty packed when we came as it was a Saturday night. We were still able to get drinks no problem. The drinks were nothing special, but the service was good and I thought it was funny that they give you plastic cups. There are several stages for live performances, and it seems like it would be a good place to host different events.

No night out would be complete without dropping in to Maggie Mae’s as this place is really happening!

  4. This place is waaaay larger than it looks inside. Counted at least 4-5 bars throughout the venue. Plenty of places to get your drinks if people are crowded around the bar. Saturday night and it was busy, but not where you were packed like sardines. It is a great place when you’re with a group of people as the space allows for it.

That night the music was R&B/Hip-Hop ranging from the 90s to today. Definitely my type of music. I would come here again if I wanted to dance the night away.

  5. Awesome bar! Caleb the sweetest door guy ever convinced us to come in, actually bought us a round! My parents and I were in town and had the best experience of our trip here. We walked up the stairs to the rooftop and Jeff Matthews came over and started talking to us. He is the sound and production guy for the bar and invited us to the les Paul room (their green room) for a tour. We stood and chatted with him for a good long while! What an amazing man, soul and place to be! Can’t wait to go back next time!

  7. Walking down 6th St at 7:30pm on a Saturday night there wasn’t a lot jumping off, and we weren’t sure where to go. We chose Maggie Mae’s for the covered upstairs bar/patio. Turns out there is a full stage set up there, but the bar wasn’t open yet so we came back downstairs. By the time we ordered a drink and got a bar stool by the window, the blues band started up…and we knew we’d found a great spot! Music is on point, drinks are good, and sound system is strong and clear. As soon as the music started people started filling up the place. Would definitely recommend and return!

  8. This a great Austin spot. Well worth a visit. Drinks are reasonably priced and the music is fantastic. The furniture is great for lounging while listening. It’s in the heart of the entertainment area and a. Ice spot to stop.

  9. Wow, this place is huge. I had the opportunity to attend a private event where everything was paid for and the place was packet. I don’t know it it compares on a regular night.

Upstairs, downstairs…. Inside or outside, on the band stand on the roof, or inside, its all cool.

If you are having a private event and need a cool place to host it then Maggie Mae’s would be my recommendation.

  10. Came here for HH on a Thursday. The bartender was really nice and the $3 Lone Star beers weren’t bad either! Will have to check this place out again on the weekend.
