  1. Guttermouth!!! Hell yeah! This place is awesome. Look forward to seeing a lot more shows there. Almost no wait at all for drinks, with 2 well stocked bars. I suggest if y’all get a chance to see some bands there don’t hesitate! Cheers!

  2. Small venue, but was very good for an intimate show with your favorite artist. One of a kind venue.

  3. One of my favorite music venues in Austin. I’ve played here, gone to shows here, and overall had a great time here every time. Indoor or outdoor doesn’t matter, always a great show with good sound.

  4. Very cool staff that goes out of their way to make it as enjoyable as possible to see your favorite bands when they come through. Plus the venue itself is insanely cool, with multiple spots to watch the shows.

  5. I came to see Billy Vena but the bar was a bonus! It was a nice intimate setting for the concert (SRO) We made new friends as well… I’m definitely going back!

  6. I went to a concert here and the venue was so awesome! I unfortunately had a freak fainting spell, but the manager and bartender were both incredibly kind and helpful, immediately making sure I was okay and then doing everything they could to make me more comfortable there while I recovered. I would definitely go to a show at this place again and recommend it to others as safety is a clear priority to them, on top of the fact that it is a sick, atmospheric venue.

  7. Saw Mac Sabbath. We had great parking, great drinks, staff is awesome, especially the upstairs bar crew. There isn’t a bad view in the place. Great show!

  8. Really cool venue, was here a couple of times in during SXSW this year, loved it

  9. What a beautifully quaint yet spacious music venue. Lots of vertical levels that you can move between to get a change of view and acoustics. Plenty of seating and standing room. It’s a fun layout for a live music venue.

  11. This place is just awesome. We saw Ty Segull here last year. Team working did a great job. One of the more unique venues I’ve been too, but man…very cool place for good weather shows.

  12. Classic Austin venue, cozy and quirky, several different spaces from the bar / fireplace to catching the show from one of the balconies or the floor. My guess is it holds 100s for a show so has a real intimate vibe if you catch a hot band. Staff is great.

  13. Awesome place for a local beer and a bad@ss concert! Nice array of vantages—whether you want to be on the floor next to the stage or up high to see it all. Two stages so there’s always something fun to watch.

  14. First time at the venue. Great venue. Awesome outdoor setting. Bartenders were great, bathrooms were great. Pretty affordable parking very nearby. Will be back.

  15. Great open air venue that brings in quality performances. I go fairly often and have yet to be disappointed. Easy to get a drink at the three different bars, easy to traverse the levels with clear paths, and never a bad place to stand in the house.

  16. Staying true to the Austin music scene!

Solid venue hosting both indoor/outdoor spaces. The terraced outdoor venue makes it a great spot to watch the show and the crowd, if you don’t want to be in the mix. The inside venue is small but solid.

Top it off with a sweet location and cool view. Definitely worth buying a ticket just for the experience.

3 bars make for easy drink access (inside, outside lower, outside upper).

  17. This bar is so great! I love what they’ve done with the space. The outside has multiple tiers and offers an incredible view and so much room. I love it.

  18. Mohawk is my favorite music venue in Austin. There are two stages (inside and outside) with bars supporting both. The upstairs deck area is a great place to watch shows from, if you’re uncomfortable dealing with mosh pits.

The staff are always helpful and do a good job of keeping the venue safe. I highly recommend Mohawk as a concert venue in Austin.

  19. Super cool atmosphere and friendly staff. Convenient tab as well. Perfect for concerts with the outdoor amphitheater. Liked watching from the first floor balcony with a little ledge to hold my drink. The outdoors setting was very beautiful and had a surprisingly amount of space with all the levels.

  20. The sound quality at Mohawk is a thing of beauty…fantastic!!
That could be end of story, and it would *still* warrant 4 stars, because music. Really, though – when you’re taking the initiative to get out and support live music, what other factor is more critical then the sound??
    Mohawk nails it.

    But wait there’s more!
Mohawk has a pretty cool beer selection for a venue – featuring Real Ale Fireman’s 4, various Austin Beerworks brews, and a good chunk of the Austin EastCiders lineup (mix one with an available Guinness stovepipe for a flavored snakebite!!) – at reasonable prices.
And if you remember that there’s fairly decent beer here and don’t eff around in Rainey St pubs for too long before the show, and get to Mohawk at least some time relatively close to doors, you’ll get a spot with a great line of sight in addition to the glorious sound. My favorite spot is on the “top floor” of the multi-level venue… There’s a structure of wooden bleachers that allows even us shorties to have a great view of the bands. (ProTip: walk right on past the people lined up on RedRiver to enter Mohawk, round the corner on 10th, and enter through the side door there. Takes ya right up to the top level, with little if any line/wait)
Best of all…Mohawk don’t give a single frig about the weather. LOVE! I just stood out in a torrential downpour watching an awesome band slay their set for 2.5 hours and it. was. awesome. !! A neighboring venue had shut down, for FAR less intense weather, a band i’d paid quite a lot to see, before their set had even gotten off the ground – bummer!! – and I was expecting the same from Mohawk. What a killer surprise!

  21. When it comes to shows featuring bands who are popular but “not quite mainstream” yet, Mohawk is the absolute perfect venue, and I’m including San Antonio’s venues in this.

What I love about Mohawk is that parking is actually NOT THAT BAD. It’s nothing a quick walk can’t get you to. There’s a side entrance that takes you up to the top level, and the acoustics are great.

Speaking of levels: that’s my favorite thing about Mohawk. Every spot is a good spot due to the tiered venue. Even on the top level, there’s a set of risers for additional height. Thank you for caring about short people!

My first time at Mohawk was in April 2017 when I saw the Allah-Las. Tonight I saw The Growlers since they’ve outgrown Paper Tiger in San Antonio, and they were fantastic. I had an excellent time tonight. Since the green room is on the top level, you’re bound to see a few band members roaming and mingling.

Mohawk is one of those very, very few venues I’d make the drive up to Austin for.

  22. Great Austin music staple! I love seeing shows at the Mohawk. Yeah, it can be a little grungy and it’s mostly outdoors but it’s a solid place to check out some music. I like that there is a second story with a balcony to view the stage. The drinks are good and the prices are right. The staff is friendly.

  23. Mohawk is hands down the best venue I’ve been to here in Austin. The atmosphere is great, no bad vibes. Even though it’s small, there’s tons of options of where to stand so you’re never too far from the stage. Depending on your interpretation, there’s either 2.5 or 3 levels of standing room. It means you get lots of opportunities to get rail and a great view of the stage.

There’s also quite a bit of the standing areas that are covered, in case it’s raining. This place also tends to have more bands that I like than other venues, so I might be a bit biased in that respect.

  24. Dope intimate venue. Either you can be up close and personal with the artist playing in the pit. Or you can be up high on the second floor looking down singing along.

  25. Along with the Continental Club, I think this is the finest live music venue in Austin. An outdoor stage like no other, with great viewing areas on multiple levels. Truly, there is no where else in the country I have been that is like the Mohawk. One of the premier live music venues in North America.

  26. Went to see a Black Fret event in January featuring Night Drive and some other local Austin groups, and even though I have lived in Austin 20 years, it was may first visit to the Mohawk. What was amazing was that you can fit a good 2,000 people in there and still get great views. Drinks are strong and reasonable, and the multi-levels are great for viewing performing artists. Have been back twice since, and still like the venue, even though the indoor stage can get a bit crowded.

  27. Mohawk is top-tier, OG, ride or die status for Austin venues. You’re not going to be disappointed in shelling out some cash to see your favorite band here whether they are performing inside or outside. It’s legit.

Here are some notable benefits of catching a show at Mohawk (I know you really don’t get a choice, but if the venue is your deciding factor):
+ They have covered viewing areas, because rain
+ They have layers of viewing, because shorter people
+ The have indoor seating/bars, because chilly
+ They have great sound, because duh
+ They have inside and outside stages, because variety
+ They allow under 18, because youth

The only downside to Mohawk is that stupid blue stamp that everyone who’s been to has leftover on their pillow/face the next morning. Curse that blue stamp!

  28. Listen this is just one of those places you go to for good music. Period. It’s an institution. A must-go.
I like the atmosphere and the set up.
Some people complain about the service and staff. Look it’s a venue. Get in do what you need to, watch the band and move on.
I’ve had no bad experiences here. It is what you make it. I’m not looking to make friends with club owners and their staff, I’m looking for a good night of music. That’s just what you get here.
