  1. Beer was good and the environment is amazing! We went on a Sunday evening, and there was live music. Easy to social distance. Only downside was the food options, but I think that it was limited due to COVID.

  2. Big fan of Vista. We didn’t get to experience their food as they are doing snacks only for now. I recommend bringing food as the snacks aren’t great, but I recognize they’re doing their best given COVID.

The beer is pretty good though and they have a good variety with their more evergreen beers like kolsch, pilsners, steam beer, IPAs, etc. The other half of the beer selection are collaborations they’ll do with a lot of ales and they have a saison on top as well.

You can’t beat the environment either. You’re in a beautiful forest with a ton of outdoor seating. Great for kids; there’s a playground way in the back too. They’ll bring in good live music on a few days. Looking forward to trying to food when things open back up.

  3. Came here on a Saturday evening, was pretty easy to get a reservation and their patio had tons of open space. They did a great job of enforcing masks when people aren’t seated at their table and made it easy for us to keep distance while in line.

Their beer selection is very diverse, so I opted for a flight in my first round. I was pleasantly surprised they allowed you to include their more expensive barrel series in the flight which made the 4 4oz pours for $12 a great deal. While those were tasty my favorite was the dark Pilsner, for such a dark beer it had a more mellow, malty flavor than you would expect.

Food wise it was fairly typical brewery fare, but the $1 hunks of watermelon really hit the spot on a hot August evening.

If you’re looking for a brewery a little outside of Austin to escape the city for an evening I’d definitely recommend checking them out!

  4. Beautiful brewery, scenery, and beers! The owners are wonderful hosts. The Dark Skies Black Pilsner is a must for my tastes. The washer pits are a great way to enjoy the sprawling beer garden while listening to some live music.

  5. What a remarkable spot! I’m a beer nerd from Portland who lived in Austin for a bit. When coming back for a visit my friends took me out to visit Vista. I can humbly say that their beer is crafted to a standard we search for back at home. I sampled through tasters of many beers, but personally loved the dark skies…oh and there’s one with “Travis” in the name that I was partial to. I’m a bit bad at remembering names but they had so many well-made and unique brews.

The space itself was unparalleled. Walkable for what felt like a mile, with bees, a garden, gorgeous trees…and my favorite was the tree growing right through the patio out front. The architecture is beautiful, and there’s a stage for jam sessions. I’m a bit sad I was there on a weekday and didn’t get to catch a show, but that’s an excuse to come back next time. The vibe here is magnificent.

I really love the owners. One benefit of being there at a less crowded time of the week was that we met the owners and the head brewer. We got to hear a bit about their inspiration, their favorite beers and their dreams for the future. What cool people with an amazing spot. I’ll be back!

  6. Great space in the heart of hill country and excellent beer! Adair Kolsh in the shaded beer garden is always a win on a hot day.

I love how you can tell the the taproom and Really entire property were designed To showcase the beautiful Texas hill country.

  7. First time ever at Vista! Also first draft beer (not Crowley/growler) since beginning of lockdown. Such a great spot.

    COVID:
Vista has a GREAT outdoor area with plenty of tables distanced from one another. The ordering process specifies 6 ft of distance in line. Hand sanitizer is everywhere. Beers are delivered in single use cups. They have also started their live music Fridays again where you can venmo the artist tips. Masks are required everywhere but at your table.

You can make a reservation on Open Table for their outdoor area. Currently, they are open until 8PM.

We brought our own chairs and a blanket to use as a tablecloth. We also brought our own glasses to pour the beers into. I love beer out of a glass so this was a need for me.

    Overall:
This brewery has a ton of good stuff going for it. It’s a little out of the way for Austinites (40 minutes), so you’ve got to make a night out of it. We’re generally bigger IPA fans, so there are a few breweries we would check out ahead of this one. BUT they still have a ton of great beers on tap, and it is so worth checking out.

  8. What a beautiful drive to come out here! And what a lovely property!

Came here to pick up some stuff from their farmstand — bread from Easy tiger, cheese from antonellis, farm fresh eggs, and a bottle of cider! The process was SO easy – just order online and then enjoy the drive out.

  9. Stopped in here to kill a little time before we ate dinner and are glad we did. This place was great. I got the flight and every beer I had was great. We will definitely go back when we have more time.

  11. Had a school event there and it was great.
Plenty of seating in and out.
lots of room for the kids to run about
and having a great staff about was wonderful.

only ding was the coordination / distribution of food. Basically they ran out for our guests, and well, there is nothing you can do about it.

Events are hard to plan for, especially with family and kids, so we will work with them next time to better handle the food service / serving.

The beer was good, the wine selection was pretty good.

What i liked the most was the atmosphere. on a cool evening, with the stars out, it was a great place to be to unwind and chill with friends / family.

    Plenty of parking..

Finding the place…well, thats tricky. See punch in the address in Google Maps, you will be ok, just know that when you get close, slow down, and know the entrance is on top of a hill … so you can miss it if you are not paying attention.

will I go back: of course, and I would recommend you go and visit.

  12. Perfect in every way
Most of these breweries cater to the beer drinker and the beer drinker alone. This brew pub has wine and cider offerings too. In other words a little something for everyone.
I could stop right here at the wonderful variety of drinks but NO.
The food is another reason to come too.
All in all this place has hit a grand slam in the brewery arena.
Music, outdoor seating, play areas for the kids and dogs are welcome…what more could you ask for?!?!

  13. My girlfriend and I love coming here on the weekends and hanging out on their large lawn and listening to the live music while enjoying some fantastic beer. They have a lot of room inside as well if it is hot and it is a really large and open brewery that is a very cool place to hang out and their beer is really good. We will definitely be back and it is also good for groups!

  14. Vista is worth the long drive from Austin. We dropped by on a Friday afternoon, expecting the place to be empty. Surprisingly there were 6 or 7 other groups of people there. Which made sense considering how beautiful the grounds are. We took a long stroll among the wildflowers and the butterflies and the grasshoppers. They also have a spacious drinking area, indoors, which allowed to escape the heat for a moment. We had the saison and the IPA. Both were delicious. We would have stayed for more but we were brewery hopping with Barks for Beers. Definitely want to return and catch some of their live music at night.

  15. Cute, scenic brewery. I visited for a special event for McDonald observatory. I love the outdoor space. Very nice with large trees and lots of seating.

The location was easy to find with lots of parking. I wasn’t sure what type of beer to order. The people here are very nice and are happy to let you sample. We each had a couple of beers and food. We ordered an oyster mushroom dish and a sausage dish. Both were good.

I would totally go back to hang out day or night!
