  1. Designers amaze me. This old building has been turned into a thing of beauty. So much to look at, you soon forget why you are there!

Solid cocktails, friendly folks, wonderful ambience, and fair prices all make this a fun stop if you are near.

Perfect for a date, a night out with friends or just to get a drink from a friendly bar tender. Enjoy this place. We did.

  2. I stopped by Whisler’s for a business meeting, of all things. I found the bar to be rustic, fun and funky with a very cool vibe. No attitude. I loved this placed. Prices seemed very reasonable (compared to California).

We were there for happy hour so I ordered a Floradora, a cocktail of gin, raspberry, lime and ginger ale. It was delicious and a good balance of sweet, sour and fruity. Their cocktails are artisanal but not overly complicated or fussy. One colleague had an old fashioned and another also had the Floradora.

I would absolutely love to return for the live music. This spot would be great for a date or for a group outing. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great!

  3. Whisler’s is AWESOME! I went on a Saturday night with some friends, and luckily we hit it before it got too crowded. There is a lot of patio seating, and it was pretty full when we got there. We stayed inside because it was a little chilly (the patio had heaters), and we were able to find a table inside. The ambiance is really cool, they have a lot of eclectic and ornate decorations on the walls, and although the bar itself is pretty dark it definitely adds to the ambiance. This would be a great date spot, it has a lot of good character and isn’t too loud to talk.

The bartenders here are artists, they were very friendly and really good at what they do. We ordered some sort of pink cocktails for my group, it took a while to make but they measure everything and are very consistent. They were delicious, and it was really cool to watch the bartenders make the drinks.

Overall this is a really chill spot to hang out, cool atmosphere, and a great place if you are looking for a low key night! I will definitely be going back.

  4. I loooove the vibes at this bar. (And trust, I’m not one to overuse the phrase “vibes.”) But really… Go to this bar on a chilly night, snuggle up to the candlelit bar, sip on delicious craft cocktails – or mezcal – and admire the atmosphere. It’s like you stepped into a castle – but on E 6th in Austin, Texas. It’s like a pub you’d see on GOT – but far more civilized, romantic… and with craft cocktails.

The patio outside has a slightly different vibe. It’s more Austin. Food trucks, picnic tables, another bar (only open when busy). Upstairs you have a mezcal bar.

For those who want an interesting photo op, take a pic sitting in one of the bar seats that is upholstered with straight jackets.

  5. Whimsical, rustic, and romantic, Whisler’s seemed like a perfect spot for lovers when we stopped in Friday evening. And if the couple tucked in the dimly lit corner ever came up for air, they definitely would’ve agreed .

The cocktails were fantastic and the bartenders were fast–can’t ask for much more.

  6. Great craft drinks, indoor and outdoor space. There was a great Thai food truck.

Drinks we tried: Fools goals, old fashion, one with the name last in it. All were great, very fresh!

  7. This is a roomy and nice place. I tried the Old Fashioned which did have quite strong flavors. I don’t mean it’s not good, but it might not be a good choice if you are not that into strong liquors. My friend ordered Cat Bus. It was so fresh and nicely sour with peach tea in it. I would recommend this one for a relaxing night!

  8. Vibe in here is so cute. Rustic stone walls with rusty mirrors strapped to the walls. A ton of fresh fruit for custom elixirs and cocktails yum!

  9. Really cool cocktail bar with an expensive outdoor area and a banging Thai food truck. The drinks weren’t overly pretentious and they had classics like Moscow miles, etc. The vibe here is so cool and i would definitely recommend as a date spot.

  10. This place is super cool. Off the beaten path of 6th street, you might find some tranquility here. The cocktails are TOP NOTCH. I’ve never seen such a perfect ice cube in my life. I enjoyed the old fashioned cocktail multiple times during my week in Austin. There is also a drink on the menu with tequila and some kind of passion fruit that was out of this world.

The bar area has a really cool Gothic vibe to it and gets crowded, but they have this huge patio area in the back with a mist system. Amazing space.

  11. Whisler’s is one of the most beautiful bars I have ever visited. It was a grain mill built back in 1916 and they have done a really beautiful job maintaining the integrity of the building and revitalizing it into an awesome craft cocktail bar.

We sat at the bar top because it was so gorgeous and seating was available, but they have lots of other seating outside and a few more interior spaces available. The bartenders were really friendly and fast at serving our drinks. I started with their old fashioned and it was really tasty, but I moved on to a version of their Paloma that did not include the soda. It was so refreshing and I was really impressed with their knowledge and ability to rethink cocktails on the spot. This place would definitely be a regular spot for me if I lived in the area.
